Add New Tracker
Guide to configure and add a new T1000-E tracker to the network.
Required Materials
- New T1000-E tracker
- Smartphone with Meshtastic app
- USB-C cable for charging
- Access to network configuration
Step 1: Prepare the Tracker
Charge the Device
- Connect USB-C cable
- Charge until LED indicates full charge
- Disconnect when ready
Power On
- Press and hold the main button
- Wait 3 seconds
- Release when LED blinks
- The tracker will search for networks
Step 2: Connect with App
Bluetooth Pairing
- Open Meshtastic app on phone
- Ensure Bluetooth is enabled
- In the app, tap "+" or "Add device"
- Search for devices
- Select the T1000-E (appears as "Meshtastic_xxxx")
- Accept pairing
Verify Connection
- App will show device information
- Tracker LED should show connection
Step 3: Configure Region
Important
The region MUST match the rest of the network.
In the App
- Go to Settings → Radio Configuration
- Select "Region"
- Choose US (915 MHz)
- Save changes
The device will restart.
Step 4: Configure Channel
Join "Test" Channel
- Go to Settings → Channels
- Edit Channel 0 (Primary)
- Configure:
- Name:

- Name:
- Save
Verify PSK
The PSK must be exactly the same on all devices:

You can scan a QR code from another configured device to copy the channel configuration.
Step 5: Configure Role
For End User
- Go to Settings → Device Configuration
- Select "Role"
- Choose CLIENT_MUTE
- Save
This role:
- Allows sending and receiving messages
- Saves battery
- Does not participate in routing
For Repeater/Router
If the tracker will be a fixed node:
- Select ROUTER
- Connect permanent power
- Place in elevated location
Step 6: Configure Name
Identify the Device
- Go to Settings → Device
- In "Long Name": put descriptive name
- Example: "Garcia Family"
- Example: "North School"
- In "Short Name": 4 characters
- Example: "GARC"
- Example: "NSCH"
- Save
Step 7: Verify Connectivity
Test Reception
- Go to Messages tab
- Wait for network messages
- Messages from other nodes should appear
Test Sending
- Write test message:
Hello, testing new tracker - Send
- Verify other nodes receive it
Test Claude
- Send:
@claude hello - Wait for response (5-30 seconds)
- If it responds, everything is configured correctly
Step 8: GPS Configuration (Optional)
For Location Tracking
- Go to Settings → Position
- Configure:
- GPS Enabled: On
- Update Interval: 300 (5 minutes)
- Broadcast Interval: 900 (15 minutes)
- Save
To Save Battery
If you don't need GPS:
- GPS Enabled: Off
- This will significantly extend battery life

Troubleshooting
Not Appearing in Bluetooth
- Restart the tracker
- Restart phone Bluetooth
- Bring devices closer
- Try again
Not Joining Network
- Verify region = US
- Verify channel = Test
- Verify exact PSK
- Restart tracker
Not Receiving Claude Responses
- Verify you include
@claude - Verify gateway is working
- Wait longer (up to 30 sec)
- Contact administrator
